Our high school brings Waldorf School of the Peninsula to the culmination of its nursery through Grade 12 program and to the realization of a long-held intention and dream.  The careful nurturing that for 27 years has characterized the early childhood through middle school classes can now flow into our high school, energized by the students’ new capacities for thinking and forming independent judgment.  As teenagers, they are longing to understand objectively both the physical universe and human experience.  Their compelling interest in seeking out ideals brings them to life’s big questions. What is justice? What do we mean by truth? What will give my life meaning? Can I make a difference? The question “Why?” is quickly followed by “What if  . . .?” Students discover that worthwhile, lasting ideals embrace compassion and objectivity, and they are eager to express their ideals in practical ways.

Our high school teachers listen and respond. The academic challenges they pose are demanding and meaningful, experiential and open-ended. Their commitment to building a culture of excellence means excellence in learning, in manifesting a caring community, in becoming citizens who can re-imagine and serve the world.

Through an increasingly sophisticated involvement with the performing, fine and practical arts, students deepen and transform experience. Every creation bears the stamp of individuality and expresses the student’s response to the world. Experiencing this process repeatedly as an adolescent builds confidence for setting and implementing goals in adult life.

At Waldorf High School of the Peninsula, teenagers discover their strengths, recognize their responsibility to others, and envision the full possibility of their lives.
